I spoke with Amanda Dove this morning and she is reporting that some Discovery Bay residents were awoken to a naked swimmer who was loudly shouting some pretty “crazy things”, some which I will not repeat. Th shouting apparently began as early as 6:00 am.
Update 2:30 pm:
I spoke with Jimmy Lee of the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Department where he explained the incident occurred in the water behind the houses on the 1700 block of Dolphin Place. When they arrived, the man was hanging on a buoy and was shouting. After trying to negotiate with the male to come to shore, a citizen assisted the sheriffs department with his boat where they negotiated for two hours before they convinced him to go to shore. The man is a 23-year old and has been taken to the hospital for evaluation. No further details were being released at this time.
On a side note, kudos go out to the two Contra Costa Sheriffs who were on scene as this could have ended much worse than it did. I tip my hat to you gentleman and the citizen who assisted.
