Brentwood Council Candidate Calls Out Enholm

I’ll be honest, I love silly season for a variety of reason because candidates get brave and call out another for various reasons. This occurred last night when Brentwood City Council Candidate Carissa Pillow, without giving much background to what transpired, called out Greg Enhom via a Facebook post.

This morning, the post appears to have been removed before I could provide an official screen shot. But I did happen to copy and paste it last night.

Mr. Enholm is running for the Community College District Ward V against De’Shawn Woolridge which is a lower profile race.

Here is what the post by Carissa Pillow stated.

One of my dear friends sent me an email today expressing concerns about the BART extension in Brentwood and the future planned building of a larger LMC extension in Brentwood. This information came from a man named Greg Enholm. Mr. Enholm does not live in Brentwood, nor does he truly care about Brentwood’s future. He is actively running for a position for the Community College District. He is spreading false claims and disconcerting information about BART and LMC to move the LMC project to Oakley. I find his outreach to be insulting, disingenuous, selfish and purely politically motivated. When I tried to understand his personal gain from seeing the project moved to Oakley, he implied that the topic was far too complex for most people like me to understand. I want to forewarn you now, that his actions are not representative of what our City is interested in accomplishing. Please do not entertain this selfish and unethical behavior of stirring up muck where there is no muck to stir.

Thank you for your interest in this discussion. I would encourage each of you to please email or call our City Manager to help put to rest this nonsense.

Thank you for your interest, and as always: Rest Easy! Vote Pillow for Brentwood City Council!

For the record, I do not disagree with Ms. Pillow bout Mr. Enholms tactics and kudos to her for saying it, but at the same time, via way of her posts, its somewhat hypocritical to go out and flat out attack someone like that via the internet without providing additional details of what transpired.

You can find out more about Carissa Pillow by visiting her website for more information. You can also follow her on her blog which is a nice looking site.

  1. Is Ms. Pillow now an expert on BART and Community Colleges like she has been on fire? Just curious. This woman needs to learn to keep her mouth shut. That is not someone who Brentwood should elect if she is going to fly off the handle like that.

  2. I say good for her.

  3. I say move LMC to Oakley 🙂

  4. Mr. Burkholder, I suggest you remove this post immediately for the slanderous comments made by Carissa Pillow who is a nobody in Brentwood. You simply copied a post she made and posted it as if it were important news which is an attack on Mr. Enholm.
We do not even know the specifics Ms. Pillow was referring to but you owe him an apology. Even Carissa Pillow acknowledges her post was wrong by apparently deleting it. Has this site now turned into a gossip site?

  5. Ms. Pillow needs to learn when to open her mouth and when to keep it closed. I for one am somewhat offended a candidate would speak like this about another candidate in another race.

  6. Thank you Carissa, I don’t see the other candidates speaking out with passion.

  7. I am candidate who was “called out” in the first entry above. I found out about this set of entries when one of my supporters in Brentwood called me about it.

I was asked by the recently formed group, Citizens for Brentwood, to provide information about their concerns to voters near the proposed eBART route. By law, candidates are allowed to send material by mail, email, and phone to voters as long as it concerns public issues. BART held a public meeting on eBART in Brentwood which I attended so I was aware that there was some controversy about eBART.

Having been both an elected and appointed official serving East County residents, I always try to help citizen/resident groups if they are raising concerns which I believe could be important to others. For instance, I represented Brentwood on the Concord Naval Weapons Station reuse planning committee for 2006-2009. I was appointed by the Concord City Council. I spoke often with Brentwood officials such as the Mayor and tried to connect with Brentwood residents. I had been a math teacher at Liberty High School.

What Council Candidate Pillow seems to be referring to is when I emailed Brentwood voters with information I identified as being from Citizens for Brentwood. I have received thank you emails from a few and one request to be removed from the list. As for her comment that I do not live in Brentwood, neither do the other two College Board Ward 5 candidates who live in PIttsburg. There has not been a Brentwood resident as Ward 5 Trustee going back to 2000, only Antioch and Pittsburg residents have served.

As a courtesy to Ms. Pillow, I took her on an hour tour of the main Los Medanos College Pittsburg for which she thanked me. I hope to have an opportunity to talk with her about her concerns in the near future as I am in Brentwood regularly both because I am taking a Calculus III course at the Brentwood Center on Sand Creek Road to improve my teaching and attending meetings.
