Jan. 8 Public Hearing: Ironhouse Sanitary District

IronhouseLogojpg

Here is a public hearing flying under the radar as the Ironhouse Sanitary District will be hosting a Public Hearing on January 8 to consider the adoption of a resolution making findings that the cost of the proposed, distributed generation solar photovoltaic project to be installed by Real Goods Solar under a Solar Power Purchase Agreement at the District’s Water Recycling Plant and Administration/Maintenance Buildings.

Here is the deal, this little notice says nothing about the findings nor the cost benefits of a Solar Power Purchase Agreement. This is par for the course by Ironhouse with its lack of transparency. It should be noted that Real Goods Solar’s corporate office is located in Colorado with a local office in San Rafael.

In fact, what exactly is the cost of the purchase agreement and what is included?  One would think that the District would post the background information packet of this meeting on its website for the public to review prior to the meeting. This may not be the best usage of land as I believe there is a better usage available that will  get a higher return for ratepayers than a solar project which will only reduce the electric bill.

I would encourage this district prior to making any decision, that it be more transparent with the ratepayers. We deserve more information so we can either get behind you or provide realistic alternatives. Another big issue with this scheduled meeting is you have the hearing scheduled for the exact same time as the Oakley City Council Meeting which ensures residents will be unable to attend both.

  1. Once a crooked agency always a crooked agency. This is a bunch of BS and a waste of ratepayer time and money.

  2. Mr. Burkholder, I was made aware last month that this very Board already appointed their assignments for 2013 without the new board seated. Why have you not gone after them for this?
